  • In an interview with Fox News' Sean Hannity on Thursday, President Donald Trump had a hard time saying what he would do in office if he were reelected.
  • Trump responded to Hannity's question about a second term by meandering through a series of tangents.
  • "I was in Washington I think 17 times — all of a sudden I'm president of the United States. You know the story. I'm riding down Pennsylvania Avenue with our first lady, and I say, 'This is great,'" Trump said.
  • "You make some mistakes, like, you know, an idiot like Bolton — all he wanted to do is drop bombs on everybody," Trump said of his former national security adviser John Bolton. "You don't have to drop bombs on everybody. You don't have to kill people."

President Donald Trump got tied up in a Fox News interview on Thursday night when Sean Hannity asked what he would want to accomplish in a second term.

"What's at stake in this election as you compare and contrast, and what are your top priority items for a second term?" Hannity asked.

Trump began by talking about how he now has the benefit of experience after arriving at the White House as a political rookie.

"But the word 'experience' is a very important word," he added. "It's a very important meaning.

"I never did this before. I never slept over in Washington. I was in Washington I think 17 times — all of a sudden I'm president of the United States. You know the story. I'm riding down Pennsylvania Avenue with our first lady, and I say, 'This is great.'"

Trump went on to say that he didn't really know anybody in Washington politics as a Manhattan businessman.

"And I have great people in the administration," Trump added. "You make some mistakes, like, you know, an idiot like Bolton — all he wanted to do is drop bombs on everybody. You don't have to drop bombs on everybody. You don't have to kill people."

Once Trump mentioned Bolton, Hannity carried the conversation toward the former national security adviser and his book.
